• The legendary Valley of Kings

Starting at Luxor’s famous West Bank, where 64 ancient Egyptian rulers lie buried in the Valley of the Kings. , where kings planned to meet their Gods in the afterlife. It is one of the most famous archeological sites in the world and burial place of Tutankhamen whose mummified remains are still here on display. Continue to the temple of Queen Hatshepsut, one of the rare female Pharaohs.Stop for a photo of the Colossi of Memnon; these two giant seated figures of Amenhotep III once guarded his mortuary temple.

• Karnak Temple

After exploring the West Bank we take a break for lunch at a local restaurant, before visiting the colossal Temples of Karnak. Walk along the Avenue of Sphinx to enter the complex as your guide explains how the massive facade was constructed. On entering the Temples of Karnak you will see each legacy left by the various Pharaohs and dating back over 3000 years. Walking through the Great Court into the Great Hypostyle Hall, it’s hard not to be overwhelmed by the 134 columns towering above you like an ancient forest, then drive back to your cruise ship in Safaga.
