Egyptian Museum houses a vast store of priceless objects, from earliest times to the Greco-Roman period, including the spectacular treasures from the Tomb of Tut-Ankh-Amun.

Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx stand on a plateau overlooking the Nile Valley with awesome majesty. An impressive Sound and Light Show recalls the distant past and its tales of glory. The Solar Boat, discovered next to Khufu's pyramid is thought to have been used in his funeral procession.

COPTIC

Coptic Museum contains the largest collection of Coptic art, 1 st to 7 th Centuries, including splendid examples of textiles considered to be the Copts' finest artistic achievement.

El Moalaqqa the Hanging Church is suspended over the walls of the fortress gate, and is the earliest know Christian place of woship in Egypt . It is notable for its intricately detailes iconostasis, richly inlaid with ivory and ebony; and the alabaster pulpit with one black pillar representing the traitor Judas.

ISLAMIC

The Citadel situated on the slope of the Maqqatem hills, with a commanding view of Cairo, the Nile and the distant Pyramids of Giza, was built by Salah-El-Din, the leader who defeated the crusaders, and founder of the ayyubid dynasty. Construction of the fortress and walls to encompass the city were begun in 1176. Subsequent leaders built mosques and palaces within the walls. The exquisite dome and graceful minarets of the 19th century Mosque of Mohamed Ali, founder of modern Cairo, dominates the city skyline. Within the compound are the Gawhara Palace, the Royal Carriage Museum, the Police Museum and Military Museum. City of the Dead contains magnificent examples of Islamic architecture and decoration. The Mausoleum of Qait Bey is the most elaborate with gilded dome, intricate inlay, latticed wood and stained glass.
